This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza is a beautifully restored summer cruiser with a sporty look and fun feel. The Corvair was initially introduced in the fall of 1959 and was touted for some of its unique features. The introductury Corvairs were so popular that they won Motortrend's Car of the Year in 1960. The first Corvair convertibles were introduced in 1962, replacing the unpopular station wagon models on Chevy's assembly line. The Corvair Monza Convertibles were touted for their sporty looks and economical cost. One of the most unique features on the '64 Corvair is the Rear-Mounted Air-Cooled 164 Cubic Inch 6 Cylinder Engine with dual Single Barrel Carburetors, that created 110 horsepower. Dual exhaust gives this rear-engined convertible a great sound. Like most Corvairs of the era, this particular example is equipped with an Automatic Transmission allowing anybody to take this car for a cruise. The Automatic transmission is shifted using a dash mounted shifter, which was another eccentric Corvair feature. The trunk, which is in the front of the Corvair, is well detailed and looks fantastic. The exterior of this '64 Monza Convertible was refinished in the car's original color, Tuxedo Black, which gives this Corvair a truly distinctive look. The exterior chrome on this Corvair has a great look. The black vinyl convertible top is manually operated and is in fantastic shape. This 1964 Corvair sits on 4 whitewall radial tires with wire hubcaps that complete the exterior look of the car. The front bucket seats and the matching rear bench seat have all been refurbished in the original color scheme, Red Vinyl, which sets off the look of the car. The dash and steering wheel are in their stock configuration and have a truly classic look. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 100 MPH speedometer and gas gauge. This Corvair is also equipped with a stock AM radio as well. If you're looking for a unique summer cruiser or you have a garage full of these classic Chevys, we've got a great 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible right here at Ellingson Motorcars.
