    Description

    19th-20th Century Bavarian Saber
    This Bavarian sabre was possibly in use during the Napoleonic period. Sword for foot servants or city guards, Northern Italy around 1600.
    The hilt is fitted with a downward quillon and knucklebow, shell-shaped guard plate with reverse. Thumb ring has had some trauma and has bent slightly. to tie it all together the sword has a pear-shaped pommel.
    The blade is a fullered sabre design which is etched and gilded on the ricasso, the tip interestingly has the fuller spread into multiple fullers
    . the scabbard is in excellent
    condition
    but shows usual signs of use.
