    ANKLE BRACELET/CHAIN,GADSDEN WHARF WAREHOUSE, CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
    This very rare large shackle & hand forged chain  is from the late 1700’s to the early 1800’s & was found in the basement in the remains of an old warehouse on East Bay Street at the Gadsden Wharf in Charleston, South Carolina.   It is 12 7/8”long & is made up of a 4 ½” x 4 3/8” U shaped ankle collar with 6 hand forged  rings There is one 1/7/8” ring, one 2 1/8” round ring, one oval 2 1/8” x 1 3/8” ring, a pair of 2 ¼” x 1 1/8” twisted oval rings & one 2 ¾” x 1 7/8” ring.                                                                                                                                                                                        It is in as found condition in the warehouse with light/ medium pits with a dark brown patina.                                          It came out of a small but high quality collection of Charleston area artifacts & comes with a certificate of authenticity.
