Description
Antique I believe Edwardian tested sterling silver purse size hand mirror/picture holder locket decorated in raised avian multi-bird scenery. Fine quality workmanship. Different scenes front and back that are connected at the side edges. In the closed position mirror/locket measures 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" and has a gross weight of 54.7 grams. The front and back are hinged at one end and slide open. I believe originally there would have been a fastener or O ring at the top and possibly worn on a necklace. It's strictly a hand held now carried either in purse or pocket. The mirror is in good condition with a small chip on outer edge. There is no silvering loss to glass and the mirror provides almost full reflective surface. I believe the photo in the frame is original. It's kind of tattered. At one time there appears to have been a gilt finish on the inside outer edges of frame and mirror but it has for the most part faded. The cover side with both birds in flight has a sort of thumb print or indent from use over the years. Not a big deal. The silver is unmarked as to maker or content but has been professionally tested and is fully guaranteed to be at least 925 sterling content. Please enlarge all pics for best details. Fantastic vanity collectible. Starts low with no reserve.
