    Description

I will be listing a variety of nice estate-fresh Antique Items this week.
    ____________________________________________________________________________
    Here is a
Nice ANTIQUE c.1815-25 POST-WAR OF 1812 ERA SIGNED SWORD WITH ORIGINAL LEATHER SCABBARD.
There are names on either side of sword, with one side which looks like
    "H & J Bocker"(?)
or "Bocher"(?). I'm uncertain of what the opposite side name reads (see close-up photos). The sword still with nice original blue and gold decoration on it. Looks to be in original untouched condition as found. Entire length of sword is 35-3/4". The blade is 31" long.
This sword was purchased from the original family descendants. Attached to the sword at estate were vintage provenance info cards written by a descendant of the original owner of sword, "Captain" ADAM MILLER of the New Berlin area of Pennsylvania (and possibly his father George Miller [B.1761] as well). There is the vintage provenance cards and a more recent handwritten transcription of same as well (as shown in photo). The info reads as follows:
"George Miller, first Miller born in this country in 1761 in that part of Northumberland Co. which is now Union Co.. His son, Adam, was born in 1807 on the Miller farm near New Berlin. He went to a log school, he was always interested in the schools and education. He and two other men were the building committee and first directors of a red brick school built on land given by his father. He and the two other men bought and erected the school bell themselves. He was also very much interested in the whole community. There was a great deal of trouble with the Indians at that time. He organized a drill company, something like the National Guard of our day, but, of course, of comparatively few men.
He was known as Captain Miller. He used this sword in drilling the company. The sword had probably been used in former times, but we are not real sure.
Adam Miller is Keith Johnson's great, great, great grandfather.".
Sword in good, firm, condition with straight blade. Some surface rust on blade in places. The leather scabbard is missing two of the brass mounts. Leather with old and dry patina, but leather is all there. Old, unpolished patina to brass.
Will pack sword with care for buyer. INSURANCE INCLUDED in the shipping total.
