THE MOUNTS ARE MADE FROM WHALE BONE WITH CARVED DECORATIONS, TOP OF THE SCABBARD IS OF CARVED BULL HORN WITH ANCHOR AND RED ENAMEL INLAID DIAMOND FORM, FEW PIECES ARE MISSING. THE MOUNTS AND POSSIBLY THE BLADE TOO WERE PROBABLY MADE BY A CRAFTY SAILOR OR MIDSHIPMAN FOR HIMSELF OR FOR HIS SUPERIOR OFFICER. THE BLADE IS SHARP DOUBLE EDGED WITH CENTER RIDGE. CONDITION IS FAIR WITH AGE WEAR AND PATINA, BLADE AND HILT ARE TIGHT. LIKELY 1700s ~ AMERICAN REVOLUTION ERA.
