    KNIFE FROM A FILE ~ AMERICAN GERMAN ITALIAN
    BEAUTIFUL KNIFE, PROBABLY MADE BY A FRONTIER OR JUST A CRAFTY BLACKSMITH. GRIPS ARE OF BRASS, TANG AND SPINE HAVE WONDERFUL FILEWORK. THE BLADE IS REFORGED FROM A FILE SO MUST BE REALLY GOOD STEEL, ONE SIDE HAS STAMPED SPREAD-WINGED EAGLE. UNIQUE SNAKE DECORATION UNDER RICASSO. SOME BLUED FINISH ON THE BLADE. SCABBARD IS LEATHER. CONDITION IS VERY GOOD WITH AGE WEAR AND PATINA, BLADE AND HANDLE ARE TIGHT. LIKELY 1800s - EARLY 1900s.
