    British Victorian Sergeant’s Short Sword
    ca. 1880
    .
Three-bar Artillery pattern steel hilt. Wire bound, fish skin grip. Single edged blade with engraved foliage and stand of arms designs. The blade retains the original buff washer at the top. There is some pitting, especially near the tip, fairly typical on these service worn swords. Steel scabbard with brass throat and steel frog stud. At the top of the scabbard one screw is missing; the other is still there and has never been turned since the sword was made. Sword measures 32 inches overall. This sword is in overall Good Condition. Not an easy sword to find these days.
