    GILBERT MARTINEAU 1918-1995 was a French naval officer and author of several books on Napoleon and a Curator of the French properties on St. Helena Island, 1956-1987. He continued to live at Longwood House for the rest of his life as well as devoting himself to the renovation of Longwood Property.
