French Infantry Officers Sword Saber - Etched Blade - Rooster - SHF

Description

Early 1800's French Infantry Officers Sword.
The ricasso is marked "S.H.F." for Simon, Helvig & Fils. The grip is tight but the clamshell moves and the pommel cap moves a little too if you force it. The grip is down to the wood, the wire wrap that should be covering it is long gone. The clamshell has a rooster inside a wreath. The knuckleguard has been removed at some point. The
blued blade
has floral/leaf gold etchings with flags and instruments. The blade is unsharpened, the tip is sharp, a few nicks along the edges,
it has an even darkened patina throughout, and the last 1" by the tip has a slight bend.
W
asher is missing. No scabbard. Length of the blade is 32 13/16" (3/4" wide) and overall the sword is 38".
