The 2 frontal secondary branches and the two posterior counterguards join the joining arc towards its middle, the beak ending in a beak
Straight blade with hollow side
85 cm blade bearing a marking: "Saber d'Officier de cavalerie 1896; 3e size; Manufacture Nationale de Châtellerault 1913 E" (see photo)
This saber was in service during the War of 14-18
To meet the needs of the army, the saber of the 1896 model was manufactured not only by Châtellerault but also by many private suppliers of which one detects the mark "BARRE FAB PARIS" on the heel of the blade (see photo)
