Description
MEXICAN CANISTER BALL, THE ALAMO, 1836, SAN ANTONIO RIVERThis Mexican 6 pound canister ball
was found in the San Antonio River when the River Walk was being constructed
It is about15/16” in diameter & is in good condition with light/medium to medium pitting & has a brown patina & still has some river bottom encrustation attached
NOTE - I use a generic picture as I have several & they all are in about the same condition.
See the larger grape shot found with this canister listed separately.
It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
*On February 28, 1836 the Mexicans established artillery batteries, initially about 1,000 feet from the south and east walls of the
Alamo
.
A third battery was positioned southeast of the fort. Each night the batteries inched closer to the Alamo walls.
