    Description
    Here is a nice 18th century midshipman's pressgang tool in good original condition. The stitched leather surface has a nice overall patina and some wear from age. Naval pressgang tools were used for boarding attacks, keeping sailors in line and for self defence on pay day etc. Originally from Leith docks, Edinburgh Scotland from a maritime naval collection. In total measuring 17.4 inches long and the weighted head measures 2 inches wide.
