    Description
    Here is a nice 19th century midshipman's pressgang tool in good original condition with a leather strap. The leather and wound brass wire surface has a nice overall patina from age. Naval pressgang tools were used for boarding attacks, keeping sailors in line and for self defence on pay day etc. Originally from Leith docks, Edinburgh Scotland from a maritime naval collection. Including the wrist strap measuring 12 inches long and the weighted head measures 1.6 inches wide.
