Nice Original Antique 18th Century Revolutionary War Pike Head
Just a super example of a Rev War pike head, most probably American as it bears no signs of royal armourer hallmarks or stamps.  This piece recently purchased from a long time collector of Revolutionary War and 18th Century antiques.
Pikes such as this were a simple yet effective weopon of warfare, used both in defense and offensive tactics. The head of the piece having been fitted on a long wooden pole.  Similar examples to this can be seen in numerous books on the subject of Revolutionary War weaponry, see Neumann's
Collectors Encyclopedia of the American Revolution
    as well as
Swords and Blades of the American Revolution.
Great shape to the blade of this example, especially the broad leaf shape deisgn.  Take a moment to click on the images and you'll see you can produce detailed enlargements. An additional element of note there is a small hole (square for a square nail) on the collar where a nail would have been inserted to help support the blade of the piece on aforementioned wooden staff.
There is some pitting to the piece, some oxidation as evident in photographs.  All oxidation and wear typical of the signs you would expect to see on a piece of this age; the piece is in very solid overall shape.
Measures approximately 12 1/2" in length, 1 3/4" wide across the widest point in the blade and socket measures 1 1/4" in diameter.
A nice opportunity to purchase a relic of the American Revolution, this piece is certain to be a welcomed addition to any collection on the subject.
Up for a period of seven days with a low starting bid and no reserve.
