    Description

    This original State Militia helmet plate is from the 1840s-50s.
    It is a stamped brass plate with an attached black enamel center.
    It was used by a number of states, which would put their own state disc in the middle, where there are two stamped holes for attachment.
    This plate has one of the two original attaching wires.
    It is in very good condition, with no cracks or breaks, and appropriate patina for its age.  There are some chips in the black enamel in the center.
