Post American War OF 1812 Officer Eagle Head Sword, Unmarked, Early Ames 1820-30
I believe this sword was made by Ames Manufacturing Company. Measures 33 7/8" long. Etched blade is worn, Federal style eagle on one side surrounded by thirteen stars, other side has crossed flags motif. Blade has darkening, spotting and a couple of tiny, tiny nicks on cutting edge. Bone handle is solid, no cracks or chips, handle is slightly loose, but tighter than most I've seen, original leather washer is still intact. Scabbard is missing drag, but other than that it is solid with evident tooling on leather and also includes the belt loop. I believe it dates from the1820-1840 era.
