    Description

Offered is a very rare large 1-piece US Artillery ‘A’ button from approximately the War with Mexico through the Civil War. Backmark is ‘Scovills’; this is likely among the earliest Scovills backmarks. It has an intact shank as shown. The back of the case reads “AY-62 1820’s Ft Reid’. In addition is a piece of an early US uniform fabric, excavated with numerous 1-piece silver plated Artillery buttons (those buttons not included). This is a unique relic and piece of history from Fort Reid!
