Description

Up for grabs is this post-Napoleonic era Russian briquet sabre that has an almost cartoonishly deep curve to the blade, approaching sickle territory. This model of briquet usually had a standard, slightly curved sabre blade like you’d see on most other infantry/artillery briquets of similar vintage, although it’s not uncommon to find examples with non-standard blades, usually repurposed from other swords if the original blade got destroyed/heavily damaged. This was probably originally a scimitar-type blade from the Middle East/Central Asia/North Africa. The blade shows some chips on the edge as well as some age-related discoloration, but there isn’t any rust and it is attached very firmly to the grip assembly with absolutely no movement whatsoever at the hilt. A very unique sword that probably has a fascinating story behind it.
