SABER OF GUNNERS MOUNTED MODEL 1829
officer's saber
82 cm steel blade with bite marks
On the edge of the blade, marking is half erased
The heel of the blade is 3.5cm with a semblance of a number
Bronze guard to a branch decorated with foliage
The handle is in brown horn, without watermark
Without scabbard
Joining arch with median ring chiseled with plant motifs, with two palmettes on both sides
The manufacture began production at the beginning of 1830 and suspended it in 1857. A total of 74,956 mounted gunners' sabers were produced.
The saber model 1829 is a French saber for the troop of mounted gunners.
This model was adopted in October 1829, a few months after the great reform of the artillery.
It replaces the 1822 light cavalry saber that mounted gunners had used until then.
