SPANISH DAGGER/PLUG BAYONET WITH FANCY DAMASCUS BLADE, EARLY 1700s/ EARLY 1800’s, FLORIDA COLLECTION
This large & high quality Spanish plug bayonet/dagger has a very fancy Damascus double edged blade, brass guard/pommel cap with a 1 piece wood grip held onto the tang by 3 brass rivets.                                                                                                                         It is 18 3/16” long with a 12 1/8” x 1 ¾” blade that has very fancy Damascus patterns for the whole length.                                        It is in good condition with the still fairly shiny blade showing the Damascus patterns clearly, the brass guard & pommel cap have a nice dark brassy patina.                                                                                                                                                                                      The wood grip has several small dings & shows a nice woodgrain patina.                                                                                                      This grip may have been refinished a long time ago, ?                                                                                                                                       It came out of a large collection of Florida artifacts from the Spanish era & the American Civil War.                                                        It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
