We are pleased to offer an 1831 pattern General officer's mameluke-hilted sabre/sword
Although, an 1831 pattern it was made during Queen Victoria's reign and has her crowned cypher on both the blade and hilt. We assume that it dates to the Crimean War.
The maker is E. THURKLE, Soho, London.
The blade is slightly curved, etched over half its length on both sides with scrolls, crossed branches of laurel and oak, crossed sword and baton and crowned 'VR' cypher,
Regulation hilt with gilt mounts including guard cast and chased on both sides with foliage, bone grip and pierced pommel.
Brass scabbard, with two rings for suspension. Good overall condition. 33-inch blade.
The sabre is in generally good condition with some signs of wear.
