    Description

German beer mug centenary of the Battle of Plattsburgh 1814-1914, from my Grandfather's collection.  The front has the
battle date of September 11, 1814, the decisive battle of the War of 1812 with England. It also has a scene of the ship battle based on the line engraving by Benjamin Tanner (1775-1834).  There are four ships portrayed.  They are, from left to right, the British Frigate Confiance, the United States Brig Eagle, the United States Ship Saratoga, and the British Brig Linnet.  On the bottom is the the word Germany and the numbers 436/7 and 23.
This mug  became 100 years old on September 11, 2014, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh.  The mug is 5 inches in height and the bottom is 4 inches in diameter, while the top is 3.5 inches in diameter. It weighs 13.5 ounces. This is the only one of these mugs available and I have never seen another one, nor can I find one on the internet.
